Web 2.0 is a new view of the internet.
While Web 1.0 consists of simple static and un-editable text on webpages, which is written by the creator of the website, Web 2.0 tools allow the users themselves to generate and discuss their own content within a socialized and connected application.
The tools can overcome barriers to communication such as distance, cost and time. These tools are increasingly being used in education, especially within social and lifelong learning which occurs outside of a school or college.
Examples of Web 2.0 tools that you may have heard of include:
-
Forums (Discussion Boards)
-
Wikis
-
Blogs
-
Learning Environments
Within each of our Web 2.0 tools, you will find documents with simple instructions of how to use them.
